Waze announced the removal of official support of Google Assistant for iOS users that was integrated into iOS devices in 2020. Since the integration, there have been a lot of complaints from iOS users, such as on Reddit, many users reported that clicking on the microphone and speak button is useless, because there isn’t any type of response, even if the Google Assistant detects the voice.

So, Waze shared a community update at the start of this week and confessed the constant issues of voice assistant features for iOS devices. While apologizing, Waze said;

 “As many of you have likely experienced, this feature [Google Assistant] has not been working as intended for over a year, and we sincerely apologize for the prolonged inconvenience, rather than simply patching a feature that has faced ongoing difficulties, we’ve decided to phase out Google Assistant on iOS starting tomorrow.”

Waze also decided to replace the buggy voice assistant with a better and enhanced AI-powered functionality that may be Gemini as the big giant, Google itself, also announced phasing out the voice assistant from mobile devices and the App Store while transitioning the users from Assistant to Gemini. Android users will continually use Google Assistant on Waze, but very soon, iOS users won’t find “Hey Google” on their screen till Waze rolls out Gemini as its next-generation voice control system.
