Google has Removed 7 Assistant Features from Smartphones and Nest Devices

Some Google Assistant features are going to be switched off from Android and Nest devices, as Google announced last Friday. So, we can say, that 2025 is the end year of the Google Assistant era, and Gemini will replace it as the default assistant not only for Android devices but also for some Nest devices that tried to move to a Gemini-powered Google Assistant as well. Google has added some more Assistant features on both Android and Nest devices while removing some.

Google has decided to convert Google Assistant to Gemini on Android devices in 2025. It will also upgrade tablets, cars, and other devices connected to your phone including headphones, watches, etc to a new AI assistant. The iOS devices are also included in the scenario. Only devices with a lack of requirements for Gemini can continue with Google Assistant.

Below we are giving a complete list of features that are being removed by Google. The devices with these features will receive a notification for their removal.

1. Live Translation

The feature is housed in Interpreter mode that offers real-time translation for Android and Nest devices. Google is going to switch it off.

2. Family Bell

Family Bell which is used for scheduling or recalling your events or other specific times related to your family is also faced-out from Google Assistant.

3. Favorite, Share, and Ask

The feature enables you to use your voice to favorite, share, and ask where and when your photos were taken. Now, you can use your Photos app to know when and where photos are taken on the tablet or Smart Display.

4. Photo Frame Setting

The feature is converted to a Smart Display setting that will help you to change your photo frame.

5. Birthday Reminder

It is the part of Routines feature, and now you can set your birthday reminders using the Assistant.

6. Daily Updates

The feature has been removed, and now you can schedule your updates while creating the custom Routine.

7. Google Assistant for Car

The cars with Bluetooth connection or AUX plug are capable of using Google Assistant.

Google is working on switching from Assistant to Gemini, as it has launched Pixel 9 with Gemini as the default assistant. It proves a little bit terrible sign for the Pixel functions. However, Google is continually trying to give Assistant capabilities to Gemini to make the transition possible.
