On 24 March, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg announced the launch of a foldable iPhone in 2026. Multiple outlets have confirmed that Apple is working on releasing an iPhone with such capabilities. Gurman also stated that the upcoming device will resemble the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold.  

It is also predicted that the new design will proceed to slimmer models, and the design will be the thinnest, similar to the iPhone 17 Air, only 5.5mm without any charging port. Sonny Dickson has leaked some images that show the new design will also be a glimpse of iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the supply chain analyst the foldable iPhone will be part of 18 lineups with a 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner display looking like the iPad Mini. The slimmest design will be measured with 4.5mm unfolding, and 9-9.5mm folded.

It will replace Face ID with the Touch ID power button, the CI chip, a 5G modem, long-lasting battery in a titanium chassis that will compete with rivals quickly. It is also reported that liquid metal will be used in the hinges to enhance durability and minimize screen creasing. It is also expected that the supplier of this material will be Yian Technology.

The price of this innovative folded iPhone as predicted by analysts could be around $2,299, as it will be double the price as compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max. It is estimated to launch at the mid of 2026, or the start of 2027.
